Grilled Lobster with Orange Chipotle Vinaigrette

grilled lobster with orange chipotle vinaigrette

Last week I had a friend over for dinner and decided to grill lobster tails. He was the envy of my other friends. In New England you hear about clam bakes or lobster grills probably because of the abundance of both on the east.  Here you hear more about hamburgers and hot dogs with smore’s by the beach. Mouth watering pictures were calling my name as I looked through summer magazines and then I saw Grilled Lobster with Orange Chipotle Vinaigrette on epicurious.com. They were delicious.  I boiled the tails for 2 minutes and then immersed in cold water.  I [...]

Grilled Shrimp with Fiery Lemongrass Chile Sambal

grilled shrimp with fiery lemongrass sambal

Today on Adventures In The Kitchen radio we are talking about The Global Table so thought I would try something global for the blog.  What I ended up making is an adaptation of Bon Appetit’s Grilled Shrimp with Lemon grass Chili Sambal. The fun thing about food is that it can take you away to other countries from the comfort of your home.  You can taste the flavors and try dishes from all over the world.  These days ingredients are readily available.  Have dinner parties centered around a country makes for a fun evening.  Play music from the country in [...]

Crackling Shrimp with Lime Coconut Noodles

Crackling Shrimp with Lime Coconut Noodles

While reading Too Many Cooks by Emily Franklin I saw the recipe for Crackling Shrimp with Coconut Lime Noodles and craved it immediately.  With the time change and spring teasing us, it seemed like the perfect dish.  Her book is a wonderful account of a year in the life of her family and the food they ate.  She shares  both poignant and funny stories of her family.  I love how she thoughtfully approaches introducing new foods to her children.  She even has flow charts of how to transition from chicken nuggets to Lemon Panko Chicken with children. You don’t have [...]

Spicy Grilled Shrimp

These spicy grilled shrimp are addictive. They might not look like much but these are bursting with flavor. The paste is spicy and sweet with a bit of tartness from the lemon juice. The picture doesn’t really do them justice as all I had with me was my Iphone. I like shrimp but not necessarily enough to cook with them often.  This dish changed my opinion.  The sweet and spicy flavors make them addictive.  One is not enough. Summer is right around the corner and time for outdoor entertaining. These could be a main course served with rice and grilled [...]

Shrimp Two Ways

I have had a few shrimp recipes waiting to be tried so I thought I would try both in one weekend. A little shrimp cook off shall we? The first was from Cooking Light and featured a Jalapeno Lime Marinade. This one is easy. Marinade for a half hour and off to the grill. This one is light but spicy and tart. These would make great appetizers served on a skewer on a summer evening. The other was Matthew Kenney’s Grilled Shrimp with Tomato Jam. The jam is sweet and spicy, based on a Moroccan condiment. In this recipe the [...]
