Stonefire Grill and Family Meals

This week I attended my first BlogCrush OC at the Stonefire Grill in Irvine. I had the opportunity to chat with Suzanne Broughton, one of the event founders. I also met Marcie Taylor,  Shannon Smith and Kathleen of Sugar and Spice.

I had an opportunity to speak to Justin,  a member of the family that owns the restaurant chain. He shared how two sisters, Mary and Maureen Harrigan started the Stonefire Grill in honor of the nightly family dinners they shared growing up. With 11 siblings they gathered around the table every night for dinner. Their mother prepared simple but delicious meals and the family would share stories from their day.

SFG TriTipIn honor of their mother’s cooking they have created a menu of simply prepared, flavorful meals that is served family style. We started off with their Spinach Salad served with garlic bread sticks. The salad is made with grilled chicken breasts, fresh mushrooms, artichoke hearts, tomato, mozzarella cheese and avocados. They offer up  their Mesquite BBQ Tri Tip Roast and Mesquite BBQ Chicken. I sampled the chicken. it was moist and flavorful. I confess to going back for seconds… it was that good.

The hit of the evening was the Twice Baked Mashed Potatoes. I dare you to try and have just one bite. We finished the evening off with carrot cake based on a family recipe. It was chocked full of carrots and frosted with a cream cheese frosting. It tasted homemade.

The salad, tri tip and chicken are a part of the Healthy Alternatives Menu they recently debuted. They also offer a grilled veggie pizza and seasonal grilled vegetables. You can view the nutritional info on their website.

I loved the families passion for food and sharing meals as a family. They are also committed to working with community groups and churches in their area. If you are looking for a reasonably priced but delicious meal for your family check out the Stonefire Grill in your area. They have seven locations through the Southern California area.

I don’t have a recipe to share from here but here is a recipe for a low fat grilled chicken with mango salsa I made a few summers back. Cook it up for your weekend barbecue.
