Tomato Goat Cheese Tartlets

Just in time for your New Years Eve party, I found a tasty appetizer to serve at your party.  Goat cheese and tomatoes make a combination I find hard to resist.  These little tartlets are colorful bites bursting with flavor. You can make the onion mixture earlier and store in a plastic container.  Right before your guests arrive assemble and pop in the oven.

Cranberry Coffeecake

Christmas is here.  I am looking forward to special times with my family.  My niece and nephews are so excited and it is fun to see Christmas through their eyes. I love breakfast.  Special days demand special recipes to celebrate with.  This Christmas morning I am going to share my new favorite coffeecake with my family. It is from Joy the Baker and is a cranberry coffeecake.  It is chocked full of cranberries inside and topped with a delicious and crunchy streusel topping. Merry Christmas from me to you.  I hope your holidays are full of special times with those [...]

Orange Madeleines

Can you believe it’s already Christmas Eve?  Where did this year go? I know most of your baking has been done but I have one more to share. It really is a cookie for any time of the year. Looking for new cookies recipes I found an article in the LA TImes naming their staff writers top 10 cookies.  They were from many of our local chefs here in Los Angeles.  This year I bought a madeleine mold so I thought these would be fun.  Plus who can resist the combination of orange and almond. Cooking notes: I found almond [...]

Ginger Creme Sandwiches

Before I share my latest cookie recipe, I wanted to let you know there is a new way to follow Adventures in the Kitchen.  You can find me on Facebook.  Stop by and say hi. For day three of Christmas Cookie week I am sharing a new favorite!  I have wanted to make these since I first clipped the page from O Magazine last February.  The cookies mix ginger with a creamy orange filling. The cookies are great alone but combined with the filling they make for a tasty bite.  One cooking note:  Place far apart, these cookies spread quite [...]

Holiday Biscotti

While I love our family cookies, I am always looking to expand and find those new cookie treasures to add to my collection.  Very rarely do the new ones make the permanent list but these have been added. I saw Giada make these cookies on her show and thought they’d make a great new addition to my Christmas cookie collection.  They were so pretty, tasty and great with coffee or dessert wine.  These would make great gifts.  Just place them in pretty wrapping with a ribbon and you have a great hostess gift!

Pecan Tootsies Kick Off Christmas Cookie Week

Christmas is almost here and I have sorely neglected this blog.  Hopefully a week of Christmas cookie recipes might redeem me. Each family has their traditions and their Christmas cookie favorites that are passed down from generation to generation.  Once a year we all whip out the recipes and serve them up to our friends and family.  It is fun to bake them with the next generation, sharing the stories of how they came to be and of the people who passed them on. One of our family Christmas cookie favorites are the Pecan Tootsies.  They are cream cheese doughy [...]
